When I first imagined RE(YOU)S, it wasn’t about building a business—it was about creating something for people, for the community. I kept seeing how much potential there is when people come together to support each other. Every day, we’re surrounded by things we don’t need, yet we struggle to access what we do. We want to do better for ourselves, each other, and the planet, but it’s not always easy. That’s where RE(YOU)S comes in.
The Why: It’s About Empowering People and Connecting What We Already Have
I believe that everyone has something to offer, and everyone has something they need. But our society doesn’t always make it easy to connect the two. We’re often taught to think about what we can get rather than what we can give. RE(YOU)S is built on the idea that we’re at our best when sharing, helping, and lifting each other up. It’s a simple shift, but it changes everything.
This idea shapes every part of RE(YOU)S. It’s a place where resources don’t just sit unused. It’s a community where we pass things on, where everyone can access what they need in a way that feels empowering, not transactional.
How It Works: The Model in Action
EX(CHANGES)
Imagine coming to an event, maybe with a few things you no longer need—clothes, toys, household items. Instead of letting them gather dust, you bring them here, and in exchange, you get TOKENS. Those TOKENS then become your currency to find something you need. It’s not about money; it’s about creating a community economy where everyone benefits from what’s already there.
RE(SOURCE) Hub
But it doesn’t stop with individuals. We’ve created a space for businesses, too. The RE(SOURCE) Hub connects individuals and local businesses, building partnerships that are practical, straightforward, and mutually beneficial. This isn’t about profit margins; it’s about finding practical ways to share equipment, materials, or even knowledge so that everyone—businesses, makers, community projects, families—can access what they need to grow.
EM(POWER) Membership
Then there’s the EM(POWER) membership. I created this to support families and individuals who may be going through a hard time. It’s designed to provide confidential, easy access to essentials without added financial strain. Becoming a member is simple and open to anyone in need. I wanted to create something that helps people feel independent and supported, with dignity and respect at its core. No complicated processes, no more hoops to jump, no extra costs—just access to the basics that make a difference.
Our Online Platform
We also have an online platform where people can engage, exchange, and use TOKENS from home. It’s a place to stay connected, no matter where you are, bringing resource-sharing to your fingertips. The platform is user-friendly and secure, making joining in easy and accessible, whether you’re attending events in person or engaging from home.
Workshops and Programs
And because learning and connection are such essential parts of what we do, our workshops are there to bring people together, teach practical skills, and inspire creativity. These aren’t just classes; they’re opportunities to gain confidence, try new things, and meet others on the same journey.
The Bigger Picture: Why RE(YOU)S Exists
RE(YOU)S isn’t just about exchanging items. It’s about changing how we think about value, resources, and community. We’re here to offer an alternative to a world where value is only measured by money. Here, value is found in the connections we make, the support we give, and the resources we share.
Imagine a world where resources stay local, people are empowered to access what they need without barriers, and we all feel part of something bigger. That’s what RE(YOU)S is working to create—right here, in Coventry.
If you’re curious, have something to offer, or are looking for a place to connect, I’d love for you to join us.
Because RE(YOU)S isn’t just mine; it’s yours, too.
